Cannes
France
Cannes is an intruiging combination of Riviera chic and old world charm. Despite the hordes of tourists descending on Cannes each summer, the town has retained its original flavor and it is quite common to see the locals play a game of "jeux des boules" on the town square. Don't miss out on the Old Town which is surprisingly uncommercial. Shopping is excellent in the new part of town, as is the beach life. Cannes boasts a fine sandy beach and some über-stylish (and über-expensive) beach clubs. Have an alfresco lunch here or escape the frenzy and head for the stunning mountain villages nearby.
