The port area of Fort Lauderdale is
called Port Everglades and all cruise ships huddle together in a
relatively small basin lined with terminal buildings. During the
week the port is mostly deserted, but every weekend the port is
chock a block with floating palaces. This photo was taken from the
plane as it descended to Fort Lauderdale airport, which is located
close to the port. Photo © 2004 Bart de Boer |

If you can, booked an extra one or two
nights before your cruise in any one of the beach hotels in Fort
Lauderdale. You can get used to the sun, the sea and the good
life. Highly recommended! Photos ©

Imagine walking along the beach in the
morning, knowing you're about to set sail on a huge cruise ship
that very afternoon! Photo

Once on board, you will notice that
the Fort Lauderdale waterfront looks decidedly different than
neighboring Miami. Photos ©
