Genoa is not a place you will love at first sight. It's a sprawling Italian port city with messy docks and rather depressing high-rises. But if you take the effort to
hop on the water taxi and discover the center of town on foot, you will be rewarded. The water taxi will drop you off at the Genoa Aquarium, designed by Renzo Piano.
From there, it's a short stroll along pedestrian-only streets to the stunning Cathedral with its gray, black and white marble facade. Genoa is a working city and one with
a very interesting history as one of the most important seafaring powers in the Mediterranean. You can easily spend a day here shopping, sightseeing and perhaps take a
detour to nearby Portofino. |
